    Good morning all.

I hope your eye feels better today and your migraine has gone @Badly_Maintained.

I think you could have used the chicken in a stir fry @AuntyRach as it could have been heated enough to sterilise it again.

We've been to the monthly farmers' market in the village hall. It was today instead of the usual Saturday. We had breakfast there and met a couple of friends. I had a turkey and cranberry roll, like a sausage roll.

Today we'll be packing. Off to Cedric's daughter tomorrow. Cedric will prepare his Gravlax this afternoon.

I have just bought this in bud Amaryllis, ready wrapped and decorated for a friend.
It's from our local Smithy Garden.
      A bargain.
Just out of interest, how much would you expect to pay?

I do agree with @Bluejayway @Penny_Forthem and I would have guessed at around £12.00. A very pretty presentation!
Sorry to read about your eye @Badly_Maintained - mine blinked in sympathy. I trust you are recovering well.

Sorry to hear about your eye, @Badly_Maintained. No snowdrops here yet, but there is a little patch of daffodils shooting up on the lawn. We have a very early ( or late ) camellia bush which is covered with deep pink flowers.
How annoying, @lizzie27. I wasn’t best pleased today as I had taken two different packs of beef out of the freezer to cook in red wine today. The more recent pack was fine, but the pack I froze in July was looking decidedly unappetising. Didn’t even want to risk putting it out for the wildlife, so into the bin it went. Then I started the beef off in the slow cooker. OH isn’t keen on the smell, so once the induction hob had cooled down after browning the beef, I moved the slow cooker onto the top of it, and put the extractor fan on above it. Was very pleased that it seemed to be effectively doing the trick, until I went to check on it, I’d plugged the slow cooker in but hadn’t checked the switch was on. Have had to add a couple of hours to the finish time.

Trying to do a final tidy up, and get the laundry baskets emptied. OH had one job, to put up a string of lights over a doorway. Seems to have taken him about three hours, and now he isn’t convinced that he has put it up straight. I’m staying out of that one!

We had a card from some friends @Ergates with a lovely design of a donkey on the front, and immediately I thought of you .
Looking on the back it turns out it does raise funds for the donkey sanctuary.
They had been on holiday to Devon a few weeks ago and paid a visit. Apparently I would love it. My OH looks worried.

For those who do play Scrabble. The last game of the group this year was to only put up words pertaining to Christmas on the board. If they could show that the word had something to do with Christmas is was used. Made for some humor to twist words into some meaning of Christmas .

Anyway, recess for both my Chess Club and Scrabble meet up till after January 3. I certainly will miss the groups, neat folks all of them.

Signing out now so good night everyone. If you don't get chance to peek in before you go and you read this later @Busy-Lizzie, I hope you had a safe journey to your daughter-in-law's house.

Thank you @Ladybird4. We leave tomorrow for DIL. I hope the traffic isn't too awful.

We've just come back from the Carol Service, about 100 people there. We were served mulled wine and mince pies afterwards.

Oh goodness, no. There should be a law against it!

Thankfully I didn't see any Easter goodies in the GC this afternoon but they were clearing some shelves of Xmas stuff and putting out the New Year sales stock much to my surprise. Gave in at last and bought two boxes of tiny twinkling lights for the garden. Our former neighbours used to put fairy lights all over their large walnut tree in the front garden, which would have dwarfed any of our efforts so I never bothered.

I also bought some gardening gloves, a beautiful steel scoop with a wooden handle and a paperbag full of hyacinth bulbs for £1 - bargain, if they grow of course.

                          Have a good trip @Busy-Lizzie

I've done nothing on my Xmas list, not in the mood today so will have to get my skates on tomorrow.
