Merry christmas and thank you to all the Admin team. Christmas to me is just another day, so I will be looking in at some point during it. I hope everyone has a safe and happy time whatever they choose to do.

 

@Penny_Forthem I was so sorry to read that your hub is still 'one degree under'. This is such a difficult time if you are not firing on all cylinders. I wish him a speedy recovery so he can enjoy some festive food over the coming days.

Good evening all.

I don't think I posted yesterday, busy day starting with packing and loading the car.

We are in Eastbourne now, arrived last night after a 5 hour journey. We are spending Christmas with Cedric's daughter but I think I've said that.
We had a horrible drive to Eastbourne yesterday. There was masses of traffic and on the A11 and the M11 there were 2 accidents causing huge queues. There was a badly smashed up car at the 2nd one, I hope they weren't badly hurt.

Cedric and I went into town this morning and had a wander around the shopping centre. I wanted some Per Una slim flare or bootcut jeans from M&S but they said that don't do them anymore, only available online. I've been buying them for at least 20 years.

This evening we went to a Pantomime, Peter Pan. It was great fun. We all shouted, waved, sang and clapped.

Christmas Eve tomorrow! The grandchildren are getting excited, even though they are just into their teens.

A very good morning one and all. Despite what the forecasters are telling me, it is quite mild, dry and windy outside. I only know this because I had to go and put some extras in my recycle bin which is being emptied today. I did rather startle a dog walker! I haven't been to a panto for years @Busy-Lizzie but it is such a lovely tradition. He's behind you! If you are risking shopping today, do not forget your body armour! Have a super Christmas Eve.

The sun has come out just now!! It has been constantly raining for a few days - the land needed it but people are now swilling out their homes and retrieving cars that got caught up. It is cold and apparently, we are in for the coldest Christmas since 2010!

I walked Fizz in the rain at 4pm. Couldn't wait any longer as I didn't want to be caught in the dark. Murphy's Law - it stopped raining just as we got back!!

Just a dash to the markets this morning for fresh eggs which are apparently in short supply!! The girls seem to be on strike! I'm not brave enough to go to the SM today - I have everything I need. Shouldn't starve until Boxing Day. (They don't have a public holiday here in France).

I hope that everything goes smoothly for tomorrow - no tiffs etc. Merry Christmas Eve.

 

Good morning @Tui34 I feel so sorry for all the people affected by such dreadful weather and its after effects. I cannot even imagine how awful flooding through one's home can be and for some reason, at this time of the year, when everyone should be happy and looking foward to the festive season it must seem doubly cruel that so much tidying up has to be done.

 

Good morning ladies & gentlemen.

My Mother has an infection. There is a policy these last few years of trying not to send elderly people into hospital (presumably in case they catch something there). So instead, a team of doctors & nurses come out to her for an hour in the morning and an hour in the early evening.

I received a phone call early this morning informing me that my Uncle who lived in New York City had died. He was 91 years old. He grew up in very humble circumstances and at 21 left here for "the big apple" with nothing but one small, very battered suitcase. He got a job in the mail room of one of the storied Wall Street firms and ended up running it by the time of his retirement.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish a very Merry Christmas on all GC members and staff, and especially to those on this thread.
