    Good morning all.
    Happy Christmas Eve.

I hope your Mother is better soon @Badly_Maintained. Well done your uncle, sounds as though he had a good life.

My daughter, near Poitiers, has just posted her weather forecast. ❄️ Snow in the night tonight! It will be sunny tomorrow in Eastbourne.

We all enjoyed the Pantomime last night. It was great fun. Lots of singing, dancing, clapping, booing at Captain Hook and cheering Peter Pan and Wendy, risky jokes etc.

We are going out to dinner this afternoon. The pub wants to shut this evening so dinners are in the afternoon.

So sorry to read about your Mother @Badly_Maintained and also the sad news of your Uncle. What an incredible story of his life - a long one and eventually a good one.

Good morning all and happy Christmas Eve!

Best wishes to your mother, @Badly_Maintained - it's great that she's being well looked after at home. Too many germs in hospitals!

I've just been reviewing the photos on the "hedgehog cam" from last night. It's been so mild so far this winter that the hogs are still very much in evidence, and last night one (or more) of them polished off an entire bowl of food in the home made feeding station, between 2am and 5am. We don't know how many there are, except that we've filmed two together in the past. The really good news is that the "ninja cat", the small stray who managed to worm her way past the defences and pinch the food last year, seems either to have grown too big to get in, or disappeared. Plenty of cats come and have a sniff around, but they can't get inside the box. It has a 13cm square hole near one corner, and a baffle inside which means the visitor has to turn a right angle through a tunnel, then another right angle to reach the food. The hedgehogs don't seem to have a problem...

Glad you enjoyed the pantomime, @Busy-Lizzie . My OH wrote several when he taught in Cambs in the 1970s, and we still sing the songs at each other. I don't know if you'd get school age children throwing themselves into the performance these days.

Hope you all have a good day, with no last-minute panics!

              Morning everyone.

If your mother can stay at home for treatment then that’s a positive @Badly_Maintained - I hope she improves swiftly. Condolences re your uncle - sad anytime of year but it always seems more poignant over Christmas.

I hope everyone is doing ok and that you can enjoy some time with loved ones, or have some quiet, cosy time over the coming few days. Memories today of frantic prep, baking and tidying which was the tradition in my childhood home. The best bit was the Christmas Eve flop and opening of the tin of sweets. The table laid with crackers and place names, the twinkling of the tree and the excitement of gifts to share was very special. I hope everyone has warm and fond memories, or will enjoy making more. (This is quite sentimental from an official Grinch! What’s happening?!)

Thank you all for your good wishes and enjoy the holiday period if you can.

We are doing nothing apart from some gardening and eating. :)

                  Good afternoon everyone,

Sending Christmas wishes to all of you and the admin team. I hope you all manage to have an enjoyable time. We are going to family for lunch tomorrow, so preparations haven’t really been as busy as they usually would be. Just prepped all the ingredients for the fish pie we’re having tonight.

Condolences regarding your uncle @Badly_Maintained , but it sounds as if he has had a long and successful life, which, I hope, will bring you some comfort. It’s also good that your Mum is receiving such good care at home, rather than be in the hospital where she might be susceptible to all sorts of bugs.

Pantomimes are good fun aren’t they @Busy-Lizzie? We’ve left it too late to book one for this season, but perhaps next year I might be more organised.

Well, everyone, have a good Christmas .

I am changing my name by deed poll; henceforth, I shall be known as Penny Last-minute.
We have just delivered neighbours' cards and found one of them had left her front door keys in the lock! After a bit of sleuthing, we found she's on her way to Leeds. Went round and retrieved them for safe keeping.
We had some mixers left over from last year, so I put them in a safe place...so safe, I spent half n hour looking for them. I will enjoy a G & T later.
Just the lemon and thyme stuffing to do, then I shall be on track.

                        Hold my beer....

I thought I had everything sorted yesterday until I realised earlier this afternoon that I've arranged the grand total of diddly squat for dinner today... and I forgot cream and tomatoes, so guess who is off to Marks?

When we get back, I need to drop a wee gift to the neighbours across the road (they never miss us, bless them, despite not appearing to celebrate Christmas themselves. Lovely couple.

Oh my @Penny_Forthem, reading your posts is better than anything on TV! Glad to read a restorative G&T is on the way. I think that Christmas time should come with its own health alerts!
@Liriodendron. it must be so lovely just seeing what pops up on your webcam. I think I might have to investigate getting one of those but after I have hunted down a new printer and scanner as mine has finally given up the ghost. Boxing Day sales might come in useful.
