Good morning all. May your day be filled with happiness and things that make you smile. Nice to read that your journey was relatively uneventful @Busy-Lizzie. Hope those log fires got your home warmed up nicely. Pleased to report that Cricket is much perkier this morning. There is no swelling to his leg/paw though he is still limping a bit but nothing as bad as last night. He has eaten well and is now in one of his favourite beds in the front room. I am not going to Bestie's today as I am expecting a delivery of cat food. I got a very vague text earlier in the week to say that it would be delivered BY 15 January and then late yesterday I got an email to say it would be delivered today - not even a time slot. I had warned Bestie that might be the case and it does mean I can keep an eye on Cricket.

      Good morning to you all!

      S'raining. Oh well....all good plans!

I hope Cricket's paw is okay @Ladybird4 I suppose he will keep the wound clean and free from infection. You could always amputate ......!!

A safe return @Busy-Lizzie and lots of goodies for everyone. I usually ask friends who are returning by car for a couple of things - but I can get most stuff now on "the river site". Sometimes, I need "a fix" of a sniff of Dettol - I could clean the whole house with it!!

Dreams @Ergates - our subconscious. I can tell you what it means if you like.(Generally).

You sound settled @AuntyRach An evening in front of the telly is always nice.

A trip to the SM today is the highlight. Best of all is the bike/run. It clears away the cobwebs.
I hope the rain eases up later.

A pleasant day to you all. (We're halfway through January already)!!

Good morning everyone, we had an easy trip back yesterday from Somerset. We came in the middle of the day, and fortunately the rain didn't start till we after we were home. So glad we went the day before, some guests were stuck on the M5 North of Bristol and missed the service.
Other family members had issues of a different kind. Son in law had booked a Travel Lodge for them Monday night, only to find they had booked them in for the wrong Monday! So we all crammed in at my wife's sisters place. The same nearly happened to us over Christmas when we went to Christchurch for another family visit. My wife was booking she selected the advertised price, but it kept moving the date, in the end we got the date we wanted but at a higher price. We then heard of it happening to someone else, so be wary if you are planning a short trip like that.
@Ergates I was advised to take a Statin, early in the day. With my old one they upped the dose and I began getting violent nightmares (I wasn't violent it was like watching horror films).
It's set to be very wet here today so not sure what we'll do.

          Good afternoon all.

I've been unpacking and wrapping presents.

We also went out to fill the car with diesel to go to daughter Gaby's on Saturday.

This morning was sunny and mild, would have been good for gardening but I'm too busy with homecoming then going away for the weekend.

            Afternoon all.

Busy day (for me) as went into work for a meeting. I haven’t done my walk but in my defence- I did walk quite a long way from car to work today.

I’m going to find out about the nightmares and statins as two family members have mentioned similar… interesting.

I hope any trips, deliveries and errands have gone smoothly today folks. Take care and enjoy the evening.

We've had a strange day. It started with defrosting the car so we could drive to the car testing centre in our county town for the NCT (MOT equivalent). It eventually occurred to us that we'd been waiting rather a long time for our name to be called, to find out if the car had passed or not, so we tentatively (being Brits) went to reception and asked - only to find they'd forgotten to call us, and the car had passed the test half an hour before. :wallbanging: Anyway, at least it passed... and as a bonus, it was now so late that we had to have lunch in a cafe.

Then we went on a wild goose chase, trying to track down a bodywork specialist who'd been recommended as excellent at tracking down & repairing leaks in cars. (We have an intermittent leak, into the boot.) We found the place where he used to work, and were then directed to his new address, but couldn't find any trace of him. Time to look for someone else, we think.

We came home, & put the new NCT "disc" (it's a rectangle, but this is Ireland...) into the holder on the windscreen, and happened to notice that the road tax had expired last October. We no longer need to display the tax disc in the car, so thought we'd just forgotten to remove the old one when it expired... but no, the authorities no longer send you a reminder, and we'd genuinely forgotten to renew it. :thud: However, all is now well, back payment made & new tax paid on line.

Hope your days were more productive...

                I've had an interesting day!
i took the car to the garage for 11 and was home by 11.15; they changed the bulb, checked all tyres, including putting air in one and promised to remind me about new tyres in 2 months. AND they charged me nothing! Nada! I had a good chat to my NDBO's daughter, thus catching up with village gossip at the same time. Bonus.
So I was able to go to my cousin's after all. The drive was in beautiful sunlight, with views of sea and mountains. She's made blueberry cake for OH and cheese scones for me!
Her new neighbour has set up a pottery studio and Hil was telling me that her (the ceramicist) first husband had been a conductor in California. Her son is a violin maker in Liverpool. I would like to enrol for one of her pottery classes.
Then, coming back, there were roadworks near home, close to traffic lights. Traffic going one way blocked the cars wanting to turn right, which meant traffic coming the other blocked the work' lights; gridlock, horns blaring, tempers frayed. If only someone had realised that they should leave a gap, instead, of queuing bumper to bumper.
Hope Cricket is back to rude health @Ladybird4
Enjoy your stay with your daughter @Busy-Lizzie
Still waiting for door quotes; they seem very busy.

Good evening all. Goodness @Busy-Lizzie, once more living up to your name. I bet you will be pleased, after the joys of another Christmas celebration with your family, to get home and check out all that has been going on in your garden. @Liriodendron, I remember the good old days when we had to display our road tax discs on the windscreen and now we don't have to bother but we know that big brother is always watching us as if you have to quote your number plate for any reason - usually insurance - they can tell you more about your car than you can remember! Wow @Penny_Forthem your garage sounds wonderful and pleased to read you were able to visit your cousin. Happy news re Cricket, he has almost recovered from what ever he did to his leg (no wound @Tui34) and after his tea tonight he went out through the cat flap and came back in about 50 minutes later without any problem - retiring to his favourite bed. I am guessing it was the feline equivalent of a twisted ankle. I will still keep an eye on him tomorrow, just to be on the safe side. Tomorrow could be my door hunting day - weather permitting.

A very good morning to you all. There was a heavy frost last night when I turned in but it is raining (again!) this morning. Cricket is virtually back to normal and he made it upstairs today to harass me for his breakfast which is a very good sign. The door mooch might wait for another day but its early yet and things could all change. I might be forced into doing some HW today. Hang on a sec whilst I have another cuppa and give that idea some serious thought!

Greetings everyone. Great news about Cricket, @Ladybird4 ! We do worry about our animals... it would be so much easier if they could tell us what was troubling them.

It's lovely to hear the neighbourhood thrush greeting the new day. Hope you all have a happy one!

Good morning @Liriodendron. Gosh, you are so lucky to hear a thrush. I haven't heard or seen one round here for tens of years. I used to love hearing the little 'chink chink' noises as they cracked open snails on the paving outside my living room. I once had a thrush nest in one of my trees but sadly the nest was spotted and destoyed by magpies.

                            Good morning all.

I'm glad Cricket is on the mend @Ladybird4.

We've just been to the dentist. Cedric's crown on his 12 year old implant came unstuck. The dentist is my younger son. We'll be seeing him again tomorrow, and his lovely wife and five children, when we go to my older daughter for the weekend. Unfortunately, my older son probably won't be there as 2 of his 3 daughters have high temperatures. They fear it could be 'flu.

Thank you @Ladybird4. I'm sorry too. They live 5 to 6 hours from us. We saw them early October on our way to England. My daughter is a bit under half way half way, 2 hours for us, 3 hours from son, more or less.
