    Morning all.

Sad news for you @Ladybird4 - I hope you have some fond memories.

A busy day of errands ahead here. I’ve had my walk whilst it was dry so time for a wash and brush up before heading out to Diddly-Dee and then to Dad’s.

    Have a good day folks.

Morning all. Just a bit of sun this morning...

No sign of the hedgehog here either, @Tui34 , though it was warm again last night. We last had it visiting on December 23rd, @Obelix-Vendée - I hadn't realised that in Ireland they don't hibernate as early as in the UK, and that they may wake during the winter if it's a mild spell - so I'm trying to keep some hedgehog food available just in case.

I'm just about to leave for "Knit & Natter". Might start my second sock...

Thinking of you, @Ladybird4 . Sad news.

        Morning from me, too.
Tesco has been - and delivery slot booked for March, by which time, I hope the sun will be making regular appearances.
Sad news @Ladybird4. I hope you'll be able to attend her funeral.
Meeting my cousin for lunch then I must do some housework.

Another grey day here but not as dark and looming as yesterday. Another inch of rain expected in the next 24 hours. The chooks may turn into ducks!

Other than visiting the chooks later on I shall be stuck indoors again and making a bag with lots of pockets for carrying patchwork and sewing stuff to meetings. No doubt I shall have help.

Cosmos was hit by a car on Boxing day evening and suffered 2 fractures in his hips. X-rays, painkillers and anti-inflammatories, confined to barracks and only moving to go and eat or go to the loo. These last few days he has recovered full mobility and, after milking all the extra loving and cuddles and grooming, is now ready to play, as close to mum as possible.

          Sorry about your friend @Ladybird4.

Hope everyone, including Fizz, enjoys their day of exercise, meetings and errands.

Afternoon all, pleased to report I feel much better today. Slept really well without OH snuffling and sneezing beside me. He stayed home whilst I fetched the paper, some doughnuts to cheer him up and got Valentine card & chocs whilst I remembered.

It must be a very good year for snowdrops as I saw a very large swathe of them on the bank of the stream by the farm lane this morning - a beautiful sight in a shaft of sunshine.

So sorry to hear about your friend @Ladybird4. Good news about the postponed demolition though.

Cosmos was lucky to survive the accident @Obelix-Vendée, pleased to hear he's recovered well, you must have been really worried.

Enjoy your Knit and Natter group @Liriodendron.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's travails @Tui34, hope they can find out what's wrong with him soon.

Good afternoon everyone, rain on and off all day again here. I've been having back pain on one side for weeks now. Finally worked out it's probably Sciatica, over the the counter analgesics have virtually no effect. Lots of stretching is just beginning to ease it a bit. I think all the coughing and sneezing caused a trapped nerve.
Getting desperate to do more in the garden and greenhouse but it's too dull, wet and miserable.

Sunny this morning, had a walk by the sea. I was planning to move some more snowdrops this afternoon, but just as we got back to the car, it started to rain. Instead, I’ve sorted out a couple of banking paperwork files and transferred some of OHs savings to a better interest account. I’ve shown him where the details are filed, and how to access the account. He really hates anything financial and is very happy to leave me to deal with that sort of thing! It’s fortunate that Im honest! And he is very pleased that at least one of us can remember his passwords!
The tete a tete daffodils are opening up now, so sweet. I had also planted some in a pot by the front door, and they are starting to open too. Great to have a bit of colour in the garden, although quite a few of the pink camellias are in flower. There are also flowers starting to appear on the acacia tree we planted on the front lawn. Sadly they don’t appear to have a strong perfume, I may have bought the wrong variety. There is a massive tree in the grounds of the university that son went to, and the scent was glorious, I was hoping to replicate that. A shame, but the tree itself is quite pretty.
Glad you aren’t feeling any worse, @lizzie27, but do get it looked at if it doesn’t improve soon.
Poor Cosmos, glad he is recovering quickly. One of our cats, Tom, was hit by a car, and had to have his femur pinned back together. Looked absolutely terrible with this swollen shaved leg and a row of black stitches, like a cross between Frankenstein’s monster and an uncooked Christmas turkey. He was very annoyed at being confined to the house, with no jumping on furniture allowed, so OH converted our old Guinea pig enclosure to allow him to be outdoors for a few hours. The minute our backs were turned, he managed to force his way out, missing for hours and swaggered in later in time for his dinner, seemingly no worse for wear. No further outings were allowed!

Cosmos is one lucky cat to live in the @Obelix-Vendée household.
One of OH's cats had a collision with a taxi, but lived to be 16.
Met my cousin at the local, with a friend of hers, who has connections to my other side of the family, which we're going to explore.
After all the food I consumed over the last 3 days, I chose a chicken wrap off the light bites menu. It was crammed with chicken and veg and came with a 'small' (hah!) portion of skinny fries. I brought half the wrap home for my supper, while hub has a quiche.
Rufus has had an upset tum today. I should portion his food out in future for the kennels. I think they overfed him (and being a greedy boy, he didn't leave it!). He's back to his small portions now. (that makes two of us, eh?)

                        Evening folks.

All errands completed so I’ve just caught up on Silent Witness with a cuppa. We had a mild day with bits of sun! Leftover cottage pie (home made with a veg layer) soon, and I may have bought a Tiramisu in Diddly-Dee for pud!

I love the tete a tete daffs too @Ergates.

Ouch for the sciatica @Allotment Boy - it’s annoying that analgesia doesn’t really help but heat and stretches can help a bit.

Glad you are feeling better @lizzie27.

Poor Cosmos @Obelix-Vendée - sounds like all the extra love has worked a treat.

Extra pat for Rufus @Penny_Forthem - he has classic ‘holiday tum’!

I hope @Busy-Lizzie enjoyed her meal with friends, and @Liriodendron enjoyed knitting/nattering and @Tui34 wasn’t blown off the bike!

Take care all and enjoy the evening.

We also had a cat which was hit by a car, and broke her hip. It was pinned by the vet, and we were supposed to keep her from jumping. We made an enclosure using an old-fashioned playpen covered with clematis netting, but the following morning we found her on the sofa. She'd chewed through the clematis mesh and squeezed through the bars of the playpen... the vet said "Just keep her as quiet as possible, indoors" so we locked the cat flap. But her sister broke the cat flap and let her out of the house, and we found her on top of the gatepost. :yikes: She recovered fine, and learnt to jump using just one hind leg.

I've had a lovely afternoon in the garden, sometimes in the rain - but it was warm, and I got half the rugosa rose hedge pruned. Very satisfying.

And yes thanks, I enjoyed knitting and nattering!

Good early evening everyone. Thanks for the kind words about my friend.
I had to smile at your post about the housing development where you are @Tui34 and the similarities to the area here being built on. As well as all the buildings and field I mentioned earlier, there is also a magnificent menage which will soon be covered with houses. Unfortunately @Busy-Lizzie, nothing is going to prevent the building but any hold up might be costing the builders money so in that respect I cannot say I am sorry!
I was shocked to read about poor Cosmos @Obelix-Vendée but am pleased he survived the incident. I wonder how many lives he has left now. I remember when my cat, Tigger, got hit by a car and had to have his tail amputated, the Vet told me that between cats and dogs generally cats are the most resilient and a dog with a similar injury would just give up. I secretly gave hin 5/10 for his bedside manner.
Loving the picture of your cheese and biscuits platter @Ergates. I have to 'fess up to not being a great apricot fan - unless its in a jam but really enjoy walnuts which always remind me of little brains!
Out of the blue I got a text from my Medical Practice saying they needed a BP reading from me and if I had a monitor (which I do) I was to do 3 readings and send the lowest one in to them. I did as instructed and about 30 minutes later got another text to say that, following my appointment (????) it was rather high. I have now been asked to do 7 days of readings - once in the morning and once in the evening - and send them in. What a faff! I will do as requested but it makes me think (a) I am an unpaid VM engineer when I ring up with any problem and they have me re-booting routers etc. and (b) I am now an unpaid practice nurse! I realise that this is really excellent Primary Care but why couldn't they have made a PROPER appointment for me at the surgery to discuss stuff? Maybe they will after my 7 days of readings are complete. Sorry, whinge over. I hope that you get better responses @lizzie27 and @Allotment Boy.
I need to get another knitting project on the go @Liriodendron as I have finished the Burnley supporters scarf and a little bob hat for the baby that I was working on:
                            Burnley.jpg
Hoping to get these posted off on Friday.

Yes @Ladybird4 , my GP surgery tried that on me. I told them i didn't have a monitor. Why should you (or me) to do a weeks readings when you can go there and a HCA will do it once and they accept that as gospel, is beyond me.
