The hot water tip is a good one, I had it totally wrong as I thought you were referring to the teeth that hold the two pieces of the connector together.

I've had problems where the hose has stretched slightly and either doesn't fit the central spigot tightly or you can't tighten the outer part up sufficient, ended up having to cut an inch off to get a fresh bit of hose.
I use a smear of vaseline rather than grease as a lubricant if required.
I've had good results with Gardena hose fittings.

So I pushed the old connector on and used Pete’s suggestion of using grease, stayed on so far. If it comes off again I use the hot water trick.

But also had another idea, my current hose is going to be my spare hose, this hose is one that sits on a hose wheel on the ground, so when I pull it out to use it gets in a tangle around pots etc. So I have a voucher for £150 from Amazon, so thinking of splashing out to one that gets screwed on to the wall, I have 2 choices.

1 - that gets screwed directly to the wall, this is cheaper, a lot cheaper. But I want to use the hose for both drone and back garden, the problem I see with this one, if I want to use the hose the opposite side of the hose facing, it would be a problem with a kink forming and stress pulling against the hose wheel will eventually damage the appuratus. Costs £36.49 on uncle A.

2 - One that gets connected to the wall via a swivel hinge and can move 180 degrees. This one is more expensive £124 but bypasses both problems above.

So any suggestions? Also see giraffe, which I’m not familiar with, they seem pricey are they good?

Anyway last year I managed to grow my first Peonie after several years of trying, as soon as it flowered and I was proud of my handy work I got the hose tangled around it and it snapped. Doh.

My hose is more likely to knock over pots in and around the greenhouse; however the number of times I've hoed the growing point off something just about to come through the soil is considerable.
