Hi, I just got out of the local hospital after a mild bout of pneumonia, leeches on full parade collecting buckets of blood. Including a couple of samples of arterial, definitely not recommended!!
To cap it all, last night I asked for a Gaviscon tablet (like you can buy in Tesco etc with no prescription)for a nasty touch of indigestion, it took at least an hour and a half from asking to getting.
Presume first nurse, (auxilliary from far east or the Pacific) did not pass on the message as it was nearly shift change (3/4 hour or so) re-requested next time I saw nurse, just on shift change, next thing I knew I had staff nurse rather forcefully telling me they needed a doctors signature ------ for Gaviscon already? this took a further 3/4 hour plus to obtain.
Not really what I would call good patient care, maybe they do have rules but in this case stupid ones in my opinion.
Surely when we are in hospital we don't want the added aggravation of indigestion or similar afflictions.
Give me a bit of paper to sign saying I take the tablets at my own risk. Sorted!!

Hi Mike. Glad you're better. Pneumonia is usually a sign that you're immune system isn't on top form. Can I suggest a course of Echinacea without sounding too "other worldish"? All the best
