Cats urghhhhh

Wishaw, the nest is only 4ft from the ground in a very accessible place. The little birds were scattered about 6ft or so around the area, not just tipped out of the nest. And we did see a pair of magpies around a few days before this happened so could have been them?

 

I've seen a magpie tipping out a thrushes' nest . It was pecking one baby bird and the others were scattered, parents making a terrible noise. When I stopped the car to investigate, it flew off with one nestling, the others were left.

 

We had a pair of Collared Doves nesting in our pear tree, and we had been watching them for some time. They had a pair of babies, but one day I came home from work to find them gone (they were not far away from fledging the nest) so I thought they may have just dropped out of the nest so I looked around the garden for them.....I found 1 partly eaten.

I was so mad, I thought it had to have been one of the flamming cats I had seen. I was preparing to give the cat a good kick when I saw it next, when all of a sudden I saw Sparrow Hawk come into the garden where I found the dead baby. It couldnt find it because I had removed it so it went straight back to the nest, but I guess it had already taken the first one.

The cat gets a stay of execution.........for now!
