I don't know what these little white insects are, but I gather they are called white fly. I see tiny black flies hovering around, and I have just watered the plant again, to see hundreds of the white things emerge from the soil, either swimming around in a panic or jumping about.
Does anyone know of a solution I can use to get rid of these pests? I doubt they are harming the plant itself as new growth is coming out, but it's the prinicipal of having horrible little things crawling around. As well as having an outbreak of them. They only have seemed to of appeared when I had repotted the plant into a larger terracotta pot, with new houseplant soil. As they were seen in my gerbera too as I repotted that, fortunately for them to have disappeared from. Only they seem to prefer the African Violet more.

I actually, diluted some Garden Insect Killer, that mentions white fly on the back of the bottle. Poured it over the top of the plant for it to soak right through, and it seems to of killed majority of them off.
It's probably my fault for in the hot summer days, the plants were on the window sill with the windows wide open, having a border directly underneath the windows, the flies may of been attracted in.

OK, Garden Insect Killer diluted in the water never worked as I thought.
So resorted to old traditional way, washing up liquid diluted in the water and guess what, it seems to of worked. Tomorrow shall tell for sure.
