Power getting thru (can hear a hum when keyed) But spindle wont go round.

Have put WD40 on, tried moving it round with pliers & hitting it with a hammer.

    Still no go.

Shall I throw it out now ?

I'd try stripping it right down before you decide to junk it. If it's producing a hum there's agood chance that the motor is still ok.

So is the spindle seized solid? If so get a pair of moles grips on there and a bigger hammer.
If the spindle is free to rotate then it's probably the brushes, you could replace them but given how cheap these things are it's hardly worth it.

    Cheers guys,

Cant get the spindle to budge, so will try Badger grips & lump hammer in the morning.

The mole grips, lump hammer & WD40 combination worked :dbgrtmb:

Got the spindle going round, but have come away without the spool of line to do the job:DOH::DOH::DOH:
