Hi All, my Strawberries are starting to turn red :yummy:

But there are lots hidden by the very vigorous growth they've put on this year, so the question is will it do the plants any harm to remove some the larger leaves to let some light at the berries?

    Thanks

    Hi Bilbo,

It would make it easier for the blackbirds to get at the fruit for sure:WINK1:

Hi Ziggy, I've been out this morning and netted them before they get chance :D; also had to net some young lettuce would you believe, the sparrows were tearing them to bits yesterday!!!!

Hi Bilbo, I've just picked my first lot yesterday and they're very yummy:yahoo:, the allotments hubbies domain and he's been so busy at work not had much time this year, first I had to find them among all the weeds:rolleyespink: but must say I've never had such a good harvest huge casserole dish full, so think Ziggy's right the fact they where hidden's stopped the birds finding them.
Have got to go and fight with a huge net today though to cover redcurrants that are ripening already!!!!, redcurrant ice cream anyone, probably better net the lettuce too then.

I have been minding three young blackbirds for the past week or so.
This morning all three were in one of my strawberry planters surrounded by bare stalks.
    There's appreciation for you.
