      Good morning everyone,

It looks as though it will be a nice day :dbgrtmb:

Kandy, the reason why your doctor says try it for a week is because it's a corticosteroid and long term use is not recommended. Glaxo, the manufacturer, normally say not to use it for more than two to four weeks (5 days for kids and never for pregnant women). As it's a steroid it is good advice to try not to use it for more than a week but I'm sure you will see a rapid improvement.

Don't worry about the possible side effects that they list on the sheet that comes with the tube. All those things are highly unlikely apart from one of them. They will probably call it pruritis on the sheet. This just means it itches - but you're already getting itchy with the exczema.

As a hairdresser we used to see lots of skin problems on customers and hairdressers are also very likely to get skin problems because their hands are in water so much and because of the chemicals that we use. The chief exec of Glaxo was a customer of mine so I asked him if a could get more info about the problems. He arranged for me to do a short course with his medical research division and after that I was able to teach my apprentices all about it.

I never understand why some men are so reluctant to talk to female doctors about their nether regions or let them examine them. In other circumstances they wouldn't be too shy about a woman having a look and a feel down there :heehee:.

When I got home last night from bridge at 11.30 I had to put out the green waste bin and all our recycling as it is bin day this morning. It takes quite a while to carry all the recycling to the top of the driveway as it's quite a distance. Oscar appeared out of nowhere and accompanied me on my walk up and down. He then decided that his reward for 'helping' me was to come in to the house when I opened the front door. He knows that he is only allowed in the kitchen (and never above floor level) and started marching towards the kitchen door. On the way to the kitchen he spotted Mrs Shiney at the far end of the corridor (long corridor as we live in a bungalow) working at the computer in my office. So he marched straight down there and asked to be picked up :D and spent the next hour sitting on her lap whilst she was typing. She then took him into the kitchen where he walked to the back door and waited to be let out. He normally doesn't like to stay indoors for too long. :)

      Have a great day :D

      Morning Everyone.

Kandy, hope that steroid cream soon clears up your exczema.

Shiney, sounds as though Oscar is on the mend already, I do hope so.

Amber's cough seems to be getting better too so hopefully I will be able to phone tomorrow to rearrange her spaying operation.

      Have a great day everyone.:)

      Good morning everyone,

Sorry didn't know how to make the photo above smaller so have posted it seperately:D

Shiney,I wish i had taken a photo of the leaflet with all the little people drawings on but then again the leaflet might be copywrited so might have got into trouble with Glaxo:D I forget that hairdressers can get skin conditons form their work and when i worked for a large electronics company we used Genklene{sp}Acetone and loads of other stuff that we dipped our hands in and were never offered gloves or anything for years so I dread to think what has been absorbed into our skin cells over the years

Moyra, hope all goes well with Amber and that you can soon get the spaying done so that she will be recovered in time for when we get all that snow at the end of the month :D

Loli,we have fog and damp weather this morning so it isn't nice at all.Hope it is better later on ready for the weekend for us all:thumbsup:

Woo,thanks for the lovely spring flowers.I can feel it getting closer by the day:thumbsup:

I didn't sleep very well last night with the soreness and then the itching when i warmed up under the duvet but hopefully will have some relief as the cream gets to work.:D

I haven't heard back from Mr K yet so I expect he is too busy at work at the moment to spare the time to email me so will probably hear when he gets home tonight :)

PS,just checked my emails and Mr K has only just got back to work, evidently the surgery was heaving. He has had a chat with the Dr and she suggested he makes an appointment to see a man Dr to discuss his problem so he is going on Monday morning as the Dr thinks he might need more antibiotics as he still isn't feeling 100%.Lets hope Olly can sort him out and we get the problem out of the way once and for all.I had better go and delete yesterdays post as I don't want him to see what I had written :heehee:

      Good morning everyone,

Its cooler here, but no frost or snow, so thats fine with me...supposed to get really cold though over the weekend and we could see some snow.

Off to do some errands today, as well as grocery shopping.

Oooh Kandy its an exczema known as psoriasis definitely stress related and often people who suffer with that also suffer with asthma too, do you by any chance? That steroid cream should do the trick and clear it up though. Good luck.:)

Hi Moyra,no never had asthma only Bronchitis these last few years due to Mr Kandys smoking, which he has now given up thankfully but it was too late for me as I developed the chest complaint due to being a passive smoker.

No end of people in our village kept on saying it was either Excema or psoriasis but as I have never had either before just didn't know what it was so in the end had to go and find out.It is the only part of me that has it so just hopeint he steroid cream does the trick or else have to go back to see the Dr and they will see what else can be done.I always make sure I have a shower every day and hopefully I dry myself enough but I just woke up with it.I will have to Google the condition so I know what I am dealing with as I haven't got a clue whether it is just something I can have or whether it is something that can be spread about so to speak:o

Hope you and Amber are both ok and having a good day.Keep your chin up:)

        Morning :)

Kandy, it looks just like my eczema, mine flares up every so often and yes, it's a condition that's linked to stress levels.
Those can be a minor or major stress trigger not to mention the body's reaction to excitement - it's all coming from the same system.

The steroid creams are the best for clearing it up in a very short time which is exactly what you want. Thereafter though make sure that your skin is VERY well moisturised because the condition is exaccerbated by drier skin - use a thick gloopy moisturiser rather than a thin one (that will be water based and less effective) and it'll be quite a good preventative.
There's a fair chance that this will flare up again !

          Good morning Woo,Louise everyone on this special dat day {11.11.11:)}

Had another sleepless night so was still awake at 4am now feel shattered.I wish we hadn't changed the clocks the other week as it does put me out of kilter.:mad:I have had tinnitus for two weeks which isn't too bad when I have the days sounds to block it out but when it is quiet as i lie in bed it is worse and is doing my head in.If anyone knows a cure I would be most greatful to hear it:D

Woo,hope everything goes off ok for you today at the Cathedral.:thumbsup:I shall be thinking of my Grandfather who was killed in the last few months of the Great War and never got to seeing his daughter {my mum}born or raised. Many people on here no doubt will have loved ones who went off to fight for our freedom never to return :cry3:

Louise, sorry to hear you suffer with the condition. It is the frist time I have had it and it is in one of the worst places on the body you can get it,apart from the head that is.I am using as always St Ives advanced body moisturiser on the effected area sometime after I have used the Betnovate so that the steroid cream gets absorbed first into the skin.:)I have been worrying about Mr K plus i have to go and have a biopsy done on Tuesday so expect none of it has helped and it has triggered it off.Never mind though there are more people on this planet with worse ailments than me so I can't complain and i just carry on regardless:D

Well,I have a niece celebrating her birthday today,a sister who is 60 tomorrow and two friends in the village who are both celebrating their 50th birthdays on Tuesday and one of them has been whisked off to America by their wife and friends and doesn't know that America is the destination or that as a birthday treat he is going to be flying by helicopter to the Grand Canyon of all places.I would love to be a fly on the wall and see his face when he finds out:heehee:

Enjoy your day everyone and please think of those heroes at 11am:)

          Good morning everyone,

I thought it was rather stupid of FIFA to ban the wearing of poppies and am pleased that they have come to a compromise. A number of my friends are going to reunions. I am lucky that all my close family survived WWII, the fighting and the bombings, although a number of them who lived abroad didn't survive the concentration camps. I learned quite a bit about the concentration camps from two of my staff, in the 1960's, who were Polish and both had survived the camps.

It is still pretty mild for the time of year and yesterday was sunny but damp all day.

I've had a busy time playing bridge since last Friday and have played for 40 hours since then - almost like a full time job :heehee:

We've booked to see the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition :dbgrtmb:. It's on from this week until the first week in Feb and it's already completely booked up :rolleyespink:

I'm being taken to lunch today by an accountant that I give advice to (he sometimes has trouble getting paid by his clients) and we'll be trying out an Indian restaurant about fifteen miles from here that I haven't been to. By coincidence Mrs Shiney is being taken to lunch by a friend as a belated birthday present.

I've just had a phone call from Barry (one of the people I look after) and shall have to go and sort out a problem for him on Monday. The Council are still trying to move him to unsuitable premises and I shall have to go and inspect the place.

          Have a great day :D
