Yes that's right loli, mine has some nice buds, I only planted it last May so it will be the first time it has flowered. I watered it a lot over the summer/autumn and have some stones covering the roots (they don't like direct sun on them so I was told), I'm quite pleased because I've tried clematis before in my garden and they have all died in my thin soil.

Maybe yours will start budding soon, you are a lot further north than me.

Mine's budding up nicely too, lolimac. If your's is showing no sign of life then I would go back to the retailer. Clematis Armandii is hardy and tough........but isn't cheap compared to other Clematis. There should also be a guaranteed "take back time", sometimes up to 3 years and the retailer you bought it from should replace it if it doesn't show signs of life as I don't think you've had it all that long.
