    Good morning everyone,

Kandy, I bought a pair of socks in George Fisher which I was very pleased to be able to find as I have to wear special socks. I didn't bother with a camera and Mrs shiney had her small camera with her (I packed that) :). I found my socks and camera waiting for me in the hall when I got home :hehe:. We had a good walk in Newlands Valley and stopped at the farm to have some wonderful homemade cakes (ginger, lemon sponge and vol-au-vent cases filled with lemon curd), a nice cuppa and caught up on the local gossip with Mrs E. I'd phoned her in advance and so she had just finshed baking when we got there :gnthb:.

Jazmine, I have a series of different lists for things to take on holiday. Each list is for different climates and types of holidays. Sorting out what to take wasn't the problem. Remembering to pick them up from the hall floor, just by the front door, was what beat me. :hehe:

I haven't managed to cut all the grass yet as the area amongst the fruit trees, where the cowslips etc are growing, needed to be cut down. Unfortunately it is waist high so has to be cut with shears first and I have to avoid the bee orchids that are just starting to bloom. We decided that there are enough cowslips in other parts of the garden for us to collect seed from - they're not ready until about a month's time. So cutting about 500 sq ft of tall grass carefully by hand is not easy. Mrs shiney has done some of it and I have raked it and then mowed.

Mrs shiney is busy this weekend at the village festival as she is exhibiting (and hopefully selling) some of her glass work in the art show.

I had better go and eat my porridge and get out into the garden now.

    Have a great day :D

I wish I had known you where camera-less. You could have borrowed my spare and I could have fetched it down to you quite easily. Nice to meet you and Mrs Shiney + friends again..as it always is..

Good luck to Mrs Shiney and I hope she sells everything!

    Steve...:)

Thanks very much Steve but Mrs shiney had her camera with her and we didn't intend doing anything spectacular during the week. :D

There were some nice reflections on Crummock on Monday morning for about 15 minutes and we managed to get a few shots. The others were mainly twee touristy snaps :hehe:. It's not as if we haven't seen most of it before :thumb:.

Though it did feel a bit funny not having a camera. :)

    Good morning everyone,

Yesterday was a bit cold in the wind and it looks as though it will be the same today :(. There was a fair amount of rain so I shan't carry on cutting the long grass. I had a nice bonfire in the rain yesterday and my neighbour had one also. I'll cut down some elderberries that spring up all round the edges of the garden and grow up through the hedges as there is now room to put them where I have bonfires. By this afternoon I expect the pile to be 4 or 5ft high and about a 6ft diameter - all ready to dry out in the next hot spell () so I can burn it.

    Have a great day :D

    Morning Shiney and everyone,
Shiney glad to hear you had a good holiday up in the Lakes and that you managed to get some more socks.:thmb:I would have been gutted if I had left my camera at home, after all that is one reason for going on holiday to get some good photos:DDon't know when we will next get up in the Lakes as we are going somewhere different this year and next year hoping to get up to the place we were thinking of going to this year before we had a change of plan. Will be nice to see some more mountains though:p

Got over to the allotment yesterday with Mr Kandy and got loads done before the sun went into hiding and the highlight was having a Red Kite fly over our plot.:cool:I had had problems with my camera earlier and thought that the batteries had run down but it was just me being in a rush as usual and by the time I took a photo of the Kite it was too far away:dh:

Found this web cam last night again and am sad that the Osprey that I have been following for a few years at Loch of Lowes is dying/dead leaving the father to try and rear the chicks on his own until they fledge.Lady/Marge/Madge was 27 years old and had laid 58 eggs in the course of her life.RIP Lady and hope you didn't suffer too much in your final hours...:(

Have a great Fathers Day to all of those who celebrate it:)

    Good morning Kandy and everyone,

Hope you are all well and enjoying this beautiful weather now it is Wimbledon Fortnight:)

I am gripped as is the rest of the world with the sad situation with Lady up at Loch Of Lowes who despite being written off by people is still alive although it appears she is blind and still can't eat anything:(I was trying to acess the webcam before bed last night as was lots of people around the world but due to heavy traffic the site went down:p

Can you all pray and send good vibes and prayers for this magnificant bird that she might pull through and at least survive long enough for her chicks to fly to Africa.:thmb:

Thanks and hope everyone has a good day :luv:

    Good morning everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed the lovely weather yesterday and it looks set fair for the whole week.

I overdid the gardening yesterday :( and Mrs shiney had to work on my back. It's a lot better today :thumb:and there will be no gardening as I am too busy today. Paperwork and meetings this morning, friends for lunch, bridge this afternoon but may get a little bit of gardening done this evening (if Mrs shiney lets me :hehe:).

    Have a great day :D

    Hey everybody :)

Just out checking the pond critters, and my tadpoles have legs - very skinny ones mind you - but they're coming along!

Been thoroughly enjying lovely tasty strawberries from the garden - just the odd one here and there - but loads on the way!

Hope everybody is getting out and enjoying the sunshine while we have it :)

    Afternoon all :luv:
What a fantastic day here, been in the garden loving it. I now have one of those little things you can sit on!!
Shiney you do just as Mrs Shiney tells you - women know best! Please tell her the bruising on my eyes has almost gone-must be her arnica thanks. Is she still wearing that lovely hat??

Have been spending time at Dr Mats bungalow helping out. He is back to work now but went to have his stent out and had to have 11 stones blasted, a new stent fitted and needs investigations on the other kidney now, poor chap :(
My family are soooo precious to me.

    Good morning everyone,

Jazmine, I hope Mats feeling OK. :thumb:
Mrs shiney wear's the hat occasionally. I'll pass your message on. :luv:

It got too hot for me yesterday but I managed to get a fair amount done in the garden :thmb:. I don't like the heat so am not going to enjoy the next few days :(. Saturday I shall be cooking for some of Mrs shiney's students, which will keep me out of mischief for a while and Sunday we shall be visiting the open gardens in a town near us. They will have 25 gardens open so I shall take plenty of water and an umbrella (to keep the sun off).

    Have a great day :D
