Have you ever looked in a mirror and thought...'What a Plonker?':gaah:

This thread jogged a memory...Some years back I had put my baskets and pots out for the first time during early May...there were over 20 of them.Gone midnight that night after the movie, the weather girl came on and warned of a frost...It was chucking it down outside and I got soaked bringing them all in the kitchen...you couldn't move for baskets and tubs.
Drying myself off it suddenly clicked...I had been watching a film I had taped....including the weather girl.Probably recorded in the middle of December. :thud:

According to the 'experts' hardy Fuchsias will only withstand the frosts when they are planted and established in the ground.

If they are in pots or baskets they will not like prolonged or heavy frosts.

Having said that I had a few that managed to survive in pots after the nasty recent winters, namely Angel's Teardrops, Hawkshead, Delta Sarah and Shrimp Cocktail. Don't think they would look all that wonderful in baskets, though.

Hawkshead is a hardy fuchsia Grumpy as for the others they are not in the hardy catorgry but thats not to say they may be hardy in your area.

I would not put hawkshead in a basket .

Interested in what does grow well for you.
