Sal - I think it is all part of the learning process. When I started I spent a lot of money on plants that I wouldn't buy now. Sometimes they just died because they weren't as hardy as I was told, and some were rubbish, and I also bought a number of packets of seed of plants that I later found out were just wild flowers.

There days I spend much less money, I just grow from seed, take cuttings or swap with other kind people on this forum. But I think we all have to go through this learning process - in many different areas in our life.

My point is this plants are eatable by snails but industractable , what to do with them ?
I was told that date palm , cordyline , flax , cycad , yucca elephantis where hardy , but they died , would love them , but are those plants that even if you try to ignore they are still there and you must respect them in some how.

Sal, I've been there, honestly, in the early days when the slugs and snails were in convoys and every plant seemed to be chewed up. It's still happening only from Caterpillars this time as several of my young Cannas have been chopped by them.....gardening is frustrating. No garden is free of slugs and snails and the like but the best form of defence is attack!!!
You're always welcome in my garden, Sal, wine supplied:

So drink the wine and keep gardening.:snork:

We use lots of the more common plants to help with the look, hostas for example are great ground cover and if you can keep on top of the slugs are really good looking, especially if you start to look into some of th emore unusual ones.

Thank you Gaz , but unfortunatly my garden is really small and can`t even have them in pot , I heard about a charity association that help old people with them garden , it would be ever so nice to give to them .

thank you Armandii for the offer , there was a time that i used to enjoy a good glass of wine with my meal , but as the price keep going up and peoples wages are frozen still , it`s now reduced to a glass a week ....keep dreaming of cilled wine and peach in my alfresco dining of a hot summer :wub2:
