    Hi All

I was given a white Agapanthus and several blue Agapanthus a couple of years ago, all were cuttings from heathly clusters and have flowered for me every year. The smaller blue variety has now finished and has probably 200+ seed pods hanging from the 16 flower heads. I potted a few seeds last year, and while they have taken, they are tiny and remain indoors all year round.
Basically my question is, now that they've finished flowering can i cut the flower stems right back and hopefully promote the corm to save the seeding energy for next years display ?? Or is it bes just to let them fall over of their own accord when they're ready ??

    Any info is much appreciated.

John I personally don't think it makes any difference, cutting off the stems may make the plant look tidier but I'm not sure leaving stem on helps the bulb. Either way you won't be doing any harm.:)

I bought few about three/four years ago and planted them in a temporary bed. Then due to ill health they stayed there until this spring. While they were in their "temporary" home they were basically neglected. Transplanted them this spring and they have developed and flowered wonderfully this year.

So I guess it doesn't matter much if you just leave them.
