Has anybody tried one of these..?? My friend has just got one & & she says it is the best thing since sliced bread.....!! :D It has taken me ages to find anything out about it, but it sounds ideal instead of lugging all the different tools around with you... My friend bought hers at the Hampton Court Show this year...

This is Kathy Crouch giving one a quick try at the Glee Stand at Tatton Park

There is a good review here, plus these people are also the UK suppliers by the looks of it. Hmmm Think I might have to get one..... :dh::D

Hmmm. Is the business end plastic or metal? I couldn't tell from the blurb. If it's plastic, it runs the risk of losing those long tines quite quickly.

It looks well designed for its original purpose (collecting up manure from paddocks) but it's not going to replace my rake and my long handled spade which I've had for donkey's years and which can take all manner of abuse e.g. raking over hot bonfire ashes, levering out stubborn roots, etc.

It is a mix of metal & poly carbonate Flinty.. I don't think they had it in mind that you would be levering roots etc with it... That is for your old spade... It is more to replace your hoe rake fork & shovel... It seems to me it is not designed for quite such heavy work as you are talking of, more the usual everyday garden stuff..!! I have 5 large trees in my garden never mind everything else & it will be great to just take one tool up to give it all a little tickle & a tidy each time rather than all of them...! My friend is getting on really well with hers..:D.

:) A similar tool has been used for mucking out horses.

The blurb says it's made from aluminium steel, never heard of that alloy before  . At thirty quid plus postage off the net, it's not exactly cheap. To be honest it just looks like a modern version of the hay fork I've been using for years which has steel tines and a wooden handle.

Probably was roders, but it seems it actually might perform well as an everyday tool to take around with you instead of all of them.. I have to admit to usually taking the hoe with me but often find the rake would have been handy too WG.....
