Help! I have a problem with this vine / root which i think may be an offshoot from my tree? Its coming up through the grass & in planters and is nigh on impossible to remove so I just cut them back. Can anyone ID this and give me any suggestions on how to resolve the issue?

Does it have frothy white flowers in late summer?

Looks like a lilac to me. Notorious for producing suckers. Break them off below ground level if possible but in twelve years we never managed to stop ours producing more:sad:.

One of those things you have to live with I suspect.
