    So if I painted fake leaf miner lines on me veg the real leaf miners would go elsewhere? Is it worth a try?

    In the animal world some birds fake injury to distract predators from their nests (I've seen this with lapwings & plovers).

    I don't think the plant pulls this stunt to deter leaf miners, variegation is a genetic disorder in most plants,probably the moths are not attracted to pale leaves they will choose leaves that are healthy and green to lay their eggs in, a moth decision not a plant decision.
