The Gunnera this year is bigger than ever. It must be well over 20 feet high and the leaves are even bigger than I can remember
    It must be happy :)

    Fantastic Sam :gnthb:

We were on a short holiday in Cornwall this past week and there were a couple of these wonderful plants in the hotel grounds. I quite fancy one myself now, we will be redoing the garden and would have a place for one, so must think it over. Do you cut it back in the autumn and give it winter cover?

As it dies back in the autumn we cover the crown with its own leaves

I wish mine would get cracking - mind you only planted this Spring, and if it gets that big it will be a problem where I have planted it :(

And I thought I had a big Gunnera Sam! Mine is only about six feet tall with two foot leaves but yours is magnificent. Mind you, if ours got as big as that we'd not be able to get in the garden!:hehe:.

There's some lovely medium sized plants in a park stream not far from Ventnor Botanic Gardens =]

I have three in pots all doing well but it's nice to see them growing uninhibited.
