Surely it`s the vegetable that needs to make the case, not the grower? Andrew you have had a very good idea which could become an annual thing on the site.:dbgrtmb: Put a bit of thought into it.

Good idea but there must be ground rules (excuse the pun) & only a few vegs or it may take a bit of coping with .

I'm not really a veg or big tom grower so I'll be an interested on looker on a very good idea. But, if I may, can I suggest that it's kept on a relaxed and good spirited level where when it comes to judging, by whoever, people don't don't get upset and raise complaints on the results for whatever reason. I know it seems unlikely that it happens but, unfortunately, it does happen. So all I'm saying is keep it on the good spirited, good humoured level that makes GC such a fantastic site.:D

Yikes! Would people actually complain about a bit of gentle competition and veg related banter?!

I'm out then. Will still stick pics of me prize veg up though, and trounce the competition, of course.

No, Andrew, it was not my intention to put people off entering the competition but just to remind people that it would be more fun if it wasn't taken too seriously but was approached in a light hearted, fun, and relaxed way.:yahoo::happydance::hapfeet: So I would be grateful if you would reconsider your withdrawal from the competition.:D

            OK, I'm in!

            Right, here's the rules.

            Categories:

            Root veg
            Legume
            Salad veg (not tomato)
            Squash
            Brassica

Winners will be judged by fellow GCers voting on whatever criteria they see fit, deadline for photos November 1st 2012, voting ends November 30th 2012.

            Get the sticky up!

I think andrew has a good idea here, it'll be a bit like the pumpkin carving competition we had, there were really no rules or guidance we just let all the members have a vote for whichever one they liked.

As a non-veggie gardener, I too will have to give it a miss - may the best veg win it...........

I think we could accommodate it all quite easily with a few basic rules & different classes.. Then we will have a voting thread in say mid September for the members to vote for the winning flowers & veg like we do the photo comps.. How does that sound.. ?? :sunny:
