@Freddy ....very nearly had Parsnipgate here on Christmas eve:rolleyespink:....out of all the containers i emptied there was only one that remotely resembled a snip so it was a last minute dash to the shops to buy some which were hard to come by:frown:.....

So lesson learnt......i shan't be growing snips in containers ever again:thumbsup:

      Hiya @Lolimac :)

We had some family round for dinner yesterday, so I went down the garden to dig up a couple. The first one was of a good size, but the second one was huge!! Easily big enough for eight of us:heehee:

Are you aiming for "Sow on the shortest day, harvest on the longest" then? :)

Sorry to say I'm not bothering with giant onions this year, it was fun growing them but sadly the last three I stored in the shed hoping to use over Christmas were mouldy :(

Neither am I - complete waste of growing space, barely anything edible from mine, let alone giant

Hello and Happy New Year from Australia.
I grew brown onions for the first time this year in a raised garden bed and was happy with result. Not overly big but very sweet.

Wow I didn't realize that news of our fireworks reached that far, they are spectacular. I missed them this time as I partied for the first time in years as it was a beautiful night to be outdoors.
