And they've gone back to selling Tobacco by the Ounce

Asked for 25g and was told it's only available in 30g pouches now, which is near as dammit an ounce.

Can we have Shillings back now please, I liked the ones with the lion standing up on account of being Scottish :old:

Remember all the coin machines that had to be replaced? It's going to happen again when they bring the new 12 sided £1 coin out next year, parts will need replacing!!!!

There is meant to be a 6 month overlap so we might need both £1 coins a the same time.

5p is the same value as a shilling - just a lot smaller in size.

But is it..... I get fed up with oldies saying things like in my day you could have this, that and still have change from a penny.
Why don't people take into account their wages.

My example is that when I started work I paid £1 for a pkt of cigs and my wages were £14 a week. Put that into scale today typical wage of £240 a week so a pkt of cigs should cost around £14-50, not the average of £6/7.
I'm sure if you work other things out you'd find the same result.

But, again, if you take into account your wages you really do have less buying power.......don't forget a lot, and I do mean a lot, of people either haven't had a pay rise in literally years, or what pay rise they had went nowhere to catch up:dunno::snorky:

Not for long, the minimum you can buy will be 30grams, to stop you kids spending your pocket money on it :old:

It's a government plot to make us smoke more, they've stopped selling extra slim filters too, so you have to roll fatter ones :th scifD36:

No more 10's, 17's or 18's ready rolled either, minimum packet size is 20 now.

After living out of the UK for a number of years, I would like to ask a question if I may.

Is it true that the UK is converting to the metric system inch by inch? :heehee:

Give some folk an inch and they'll take a kilometre

Been doing surveys for the tobacco industry for years now, couldn't say anything till the new packs came out.

All the packs will be the same colour, covered in 'orrible pictures and with the brand name in small print. It's gonna be a nightmare for folk selling them.

Most of the surveys were seeing which new brands folk are aware of, of course no one can see new brands now they're behind closed doors.

They also pay me a fiver to send my empty packets back in a pre paid envelope, guess they want to see how much duty free folk are smoking?

                                No more menthol tobacco either...
