I'd have a little look and see how extensive the roots are around the outside of the rootball - e.g. can you can see lots of root activity at the drainage holes? if not then gently knock to put off, inspect, and put back in the pot

"Are there any green evergreen acers?"

A couple, but none that I know of that have "interesting" leaves - nothing like the Dissectum varieties

That seems like very good advice, thanks Kristen.

Yip ... if the root system is strong then pot it up into your proposed ornamental pot
It looks to be a good little plant Freddy, and i think your price is about right too
    Evergreen acers?

Hi again. One more thing, I know it likes acid conditions, does this mean I should feed it with that iron stuff ? :) Cheers...freddy.

I planted mine in ericaceous compost and feed it with ericaceous feed and it is quite happy.

I seen an acer today that I fell in love with -

Think I might have to get one

    Drainage drainage and drainage
That is the secret of a successful Japanese maple
They do not require much fertilising (makes them leggy) although in a pot a little feed every year would do no harm
Use a dilute miracid feed :)

Iron chelates? Can't hurt... I've also heard anecdotal evidence of people watering them with a very dilute solution of vineger.... can't say I've tried this one myself, though!
