I have an Acer at edge of garden and it has a couple of large shoots from the top. Are these leaders? Should I cut them off. I would like tree to stay around the size it is.

    Hi Max6389

They're likely to be the leaders, yes. The tip buds control the trees height, so removing them will help in keeping the tree at the height you require.
