Having paid 2 years rent up front for our derelict site to be re-instated, having seen almost nothing done over the last few months, (apologies, this is an ongoing saga that I threaded a while back and I'm too lazy (busy) to back-track to find the original post), I drove past the site today , treetreetreetreetreetree me, they've actually started clearing it, a JCB and big digger (both doing nothing) were evident on the site so maybe I'll get my plot soon?

Experience tells me not to hold my breath BUT what veggies can I start off in my home greenhouse (limited space) now with a view to an early August transplanting to the allotment? And any direct sown veggies?

I have Caulis and Calabrese covered, maybe cabbage too!

I'm inclined though to leave the whole plot barren for a few weeks then SBK the whole lot in preparation for next season?

    Your views appreciated.

Ooops, obviously I used an inappropriate word, rhymes with rugger but begins with B and ends "ar"

      Good news Vince.

I'd try and get a few crops in this season:
      Direct sown: carrots, peas.
Start now from seed: Runner beans
Young plants from garden centres/fetes/freecycle: Leeks, tomatoes, cucumbers, marrow/courgette

There is some hope then Vince,

      Garlic, direct sown in November.

Green manure any bits you don't use, mustard & alfalfa, you can eat those as winter greens too.

Well 3 months on and still not on the site, light at the end of the tunnel though, I drove past the site yesterday and noticed some people marking out the plots :D

So maybe, just maybe, I'll have my plot in time for the spring sowing!
