Time of day doesn't seem to make much difference to Mike. He's patronising and rude to women at all hours.

LauraRoslin. Hey lady! where has this come from? There is no thoughts of superiority here. Regarding the NHS. This organisation didn't come about until. 5.7.1948. Prior to that, a vistit to the GP would cost you two and six.
Honestly I find your comment hard to understand. If I may be allowed. My stance in life is. Mwn and women are due equal rights.

Somehow you and youre followers have suddenly taken unbridge at what ever has been said. Please, re-read the whole forum thread. My comments relate to memories of past years, of how we as perhaps kids, were raised and fed, how our mums coped etc. Having reminded ourselves of the past, I then mentioned perhaps todays comparrision. Today many famililes, wives etc sadly have little know how.

I accept yours and others comments, but please read carefully before you condemn.

So that dig at that end about women nowadays not being to cook a meal the way your mother did wasn't rude and patronising? Only in your head, Mike. And I don't have followers. I have no idea why you would say that. But I am not the only woman on here that finds you rude and patronising. Maybe you should think about that.

And as for the better diet, really? I think your father's bleeding ulcers give the lie to that one.

You trying getting them these days in local supermarkets.

Can still get these and also pigs heads and calf feet from a local butcher, but only as a special order.

Used to be a lot more common and serious than today. Often stress related; used to be treated by diet, rest, blood transfusion and surgery in severe cases. These days treatment is much improved with drugs to reduce stomach acid and antibiotics to kill off bacteria known to cause/ prevent healing of stomach ulcers.

Smoking will be my next challenge. Since I moved over here with the intention of being as self-sufficient as possible, I've learnt a lot about conserving, as the French country folk still do. There are regular promotions on whole pigs and duck (now that the regulations are discouraging people from raising their own). Not sure about cheese_making though :) I tried making paneer (Indian cheese) a couple of years ago. Colossal amounts of very expensive full-cream milk produced a tiny quantity of cheese :dunno: That Stilton looks very impressive!:)
