It was the English bowman, where so accurate, when caught, the French used to cut the string holding fingers off, so when in battle,m the English used to wave the 2 bow fingers st the French, to say, I still got them, I can still shoot you

I hd to swot up on French history for naturalisation. It's hilarious to compare the battle strategies of the French and English armies over the centuries. While the English were honing their archery and camouflage skills, it wasn't until Castillon La Bataille that the French realised that being immaculately dressed in bright colours perhaps wasn't such a good move. And that chivalric behaviour wasn't nearly so effective as killing your opponents as quickly as possible :roflol:

We British do have a talent for saying what we think of Mr Barnier's way of telling the UK to do what he wants..........

I just cant help but laugh, when the French try to be assertive, it dosnt go with the accent, even taking a dump in French sounds romantic. And the faces he pulls (Barnier), on both faces.

              Oh dear....

GERMANY would see its annual contribution to the European Union's hotly contested budget surge by a massive 42 percent over the coming years following Brexit, based on the current proposal from the European Commission.

I just saw something that said we export 70% of our fishing catch to the EU.

At the same time we import 70-80% of all the fish we eat.:smile:
And some of that comes from the EU which is caught in our waters.

                Its a crazy world.

I used to live very near a processing plant that in the latter stages of its life was a Young's Seafood plant (started out as a company called Pinneys) - they used to process seafood that had pretty much jumped out of the sea into a boat and then from the boat right into the processing plant. It was in operation 24/7, and I remember as a young lad that a lot of my mates got casual work there on the lead up to Christmas - very busy wee plant. It shut a few years back, and now the fish caught there in Scotland is frozen on the boat and sent all over the world, including China and the EU where it is processed and then sent back to us as our bags of Scampi and so on.

They say it was for cost saving, but have you seen the price of scampi nowadays?

Have you managed to work out what "Scampi" is?
That frozen stuff in breadcrumbs is definitely not what I call sea food.

To be fair when it comes to seafood, it could be lips, bums and fins for all I care - don't really like the stuff, so can't claim to be a connoisseur - Mrs C on the other hand, loves a bit of fish......

It does seem really mad to me though that we catch it (whatever it is), freeze it and send it halfway around the world to be coated in breadcrumbs and sent back to us to consume - - and that is supposed to be cheaper?

Well I come across a lot of people who say they dont like fish.
I usually find they only buy those frozen breadcrumbed, so called fillets.

So basically processed fish, not proper real fish.

I even prefer fish fingers to some of that stuff that people buy as fish.

I went in a cafe near where I work one day and ordered fish and chips, When I cut into the fish is was grey in colour and mushy.
It just about finished me when I came across the back bone of a sardine in this so called breaded fillet. Yuck.

                          Sorry Barney - it's happening -

NEW ZEALAND has officially begun talks with the UK on a free trade agreement.

THE UK and Australia are aiming to strike a free trade deal in "record" time - sending a message to Brussels after post-Brexit talks once again ground to a halt earlier this month.

Aims are all well and good, but it still needs to be accomplished... Lets just say I'm not wholly believing of the incumbent govt ability at the moment.

                              Hope so!!
