Are we seeing a massive climbdown by Boris, regarding Brexit, in the light of recent events.

Probably, but I am personally not convinced that Boris was ever the one fully pushing for a 'proper' Brexit - he was merely the mouthpiece. I suspect his missus has some input here for a start, and whether we like to admit it or not Boris never had any intention of being party leader come the next election - - - he is going to move on to more lucrative, globalist enterprises (a la Tony B-Liar); as long as his pockets are lined, he doesn't give two hoots.

I said long before Brexit and will continue saying so, it does not matter who you vote for, the elites will continue to do what they want to do; we are to all intents and purposes living in a dictatorship.

Does that mean that if we got rid of all the seals we would have enough fish for all the fleets in the EU to come and fish here?

Yes, that's the solution! Bring on the Norwegian seal clubbers, ban Brigitte Bardot and peace will prevail over the continent.

Hang on, Norway is not in the EU. So they could club the adorable seal puppies to death only outside EU waters... our waters...

I think a glass of wine is called for Selleri

Many years ago, when some dignitary/politician/whatever from one of the seal pup clubbing nations was due to visit our local town, I attended a meeting of local organisations who were planning a protest and seeking suggestions.

I suggested constructing white cloth model 'pups' containing plastic pop bottles of red food dye and using baseball bats to beat them into a 'bloody' mess in the street outside the venue

My suggestion got rejected for being"too extreme".

Some years ago a Norwegian colleague was retiring and my colleagues turned to me to ask for activities for his send off party. (As a Finn I apparently was the expert on Norwegian matters here in the UK  )

I suggested a "Traditional Norwegian piƱata" , hanging a baby seal from the ceiling and letting the blindfolded retiree to bash it with a club. I even volunteered to pay for the club and the vodka.

Sadly I was caught out and we ended up with a cake and a powerpoint presentation. :dunno:

A disclaimer- this was just a joke we had, I and my colleagues do take animal welfare very seriously and would never do anything to harm animals nor to be culturally patronising. Just a joke amongst friends.

From the UK Government web site:

                          Cross-border trade

The EU and UK will trade on WTO terms from 1 January 2021. The default position in this case is that UK service providers will be required to comply with GATS rules on services provision.

Ireland: providing services from 1 January 2021

                          A no deal brexit perhaps?

It's starting to look that way, as Barnier is still being Barnier and the UK still wants complete sovereignty, securing the Fishing Rights within UK waters, not being subservient to the EU Courts in any way, and keeping the "level playing field" as interpreted by the UK and not the EU.:dunno::heehee::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

I note that it was reported earlier that Boris had agreed to remain under the EHCR, which many saw as him caving in.... but I wonder, has he done so to be able to turn round and say that "we even agreed to remain under the EHCR and still the EU wouldn't agree" in the event of a no deal? Are they making steps to make sure that a failure to agree points directly at the EU?

No deal on the 1st Jan - but both sides will soon come to their senses when the impact of tariffs comes into play - mid next year we will have a deal I reckon - a Canada a like deal.
