I suffer with sneezing fits and take allergy tablets, I have been taking Loratadine but they seem to have stopped working :doh:Any other suggestions of a non-drowsy pill?? I think I am actually allergic to my cat and dogs so I can't remove the cause as it were!! :doggieshmooze::doggieshmooze::cat-kittyandsmiley:

Cetirizine is another non-drowsy one; I find I have to switch from one to the other sometimes - no idea why.

Avoid the likes of chloramphenamine and diphenhydramine which are the ones that cause drowsiness.

Would that have the same active ingredient as Piriteze, or is it just a coincidental similarity in name?

I have some Piriteze that I bought during the peak of my chest lurgy. I bought them to knock me out so I could get some sleep. One tablet made me pretty much useless for 24 hours.

Piriton is a possibility. My brother has been prescribed it for hives which is an allergic reaction.

Piriton is a brand name for chlorphenamine (sorry, I misspelt it earlier) which is one of the anti-histamines that can make you drowsy

Piriteze is a brand name for cetirizine, with Zirtek being another brand name for the same thing.

Don't waste your money on these branded products - Boots do a 'Value Health' range of either cetirizine or loratadine for 99p a box, and they are identical in terms of active ingredients to the more expensive, branded products

I took them for several years and found out the hard way what they did Val.. It doesn't happen for everyone, but I have a blood problem coupled with low blood pressure too & coupled with the Zirtek I landed up in hospital on the cardio ward..
