Aw yes Michael as I said I understood what you meant....even more so now.:grphg:

I was basing my reply on Vicky's post and the inability to physically move around and carry on with daily life, and the soul destroying feeling of losing your independence too early , when you know you have so much life left to live.

I too feel that I have matured in both mind and confidence during my adult years. Like you I have spent a large portion of my latter years caring and supporting family members and one very dear friend in particular, only to have my own pleas for help pass over them all, unheard....that sucks too.

Compared to many my life is good and I know how fortunate I am....just comparing myself to my younger brother allows me to see that very clearly indeed. Living alone having been made completely disabled by incredibly servere Rheumatoid Arthritis since he was 18 and now now living in the scary world of Alzheimer's....

Pain gnaws away at you and is unseen by those around, but likewise so does the mental pain and torment that you have had to endure.
I am really happy that those dark times are behind you now and that you have finally reached your ' good space '.

    :grphg: xx

Thank you @Upsydaisy and @Victoria, I enjoy being on this forum because as well as sharing a common interest in gardening, we are supportive of each other in other areas of our lives.
I hope you didn't think I was disagreeing with you in my comments above but I have dealt with disabled people both young and old. I was a social worker for elderly and disabled people as well as carer for Beryl and other family members, so have lived with disability all my life, from when I was a child, and I have seen how pain affects people. I can understand how you feel. Now I am becoming disabled myself but I am stubborn and won't give in.
I just say what comes to my mind and sometimes I can sound blunt but I do understand.

No worries at all Michael , I completely understand and respect your valued comments.:)
I have a stubborn streak in me too and try pushing myself to keep going and be there for others but recently have come to realise that it's often to the detriment of my own health and wellbeing....now I have learnt the error of my ways and listen and take heed to my complaining body more these days.

On very rare occasions when we don't see eye to eye on the forum, we know the support of others is nevertheless unwavering.:dbgrtmb:

We have to know our limits and use our sense,
but I have met people in my work and in my family who are less disabled than you or I, and they have become poor little things, spending their time doing nothing and feeling sorry for themselves, when they could really have much more interesting and fulfilling lives, even if it is not as active as it once was.

Take care of yourself @Upsydaisy  x

Well, I didn't want to drag things out, was just surprised it has been four years since this journey began. Otherwise I am healthy, take no painkillers, just Calcium/D3 ordered by my Surgeon for Osteoporosis and a Multivitamin plus Iron I choose to take. I just miss being more active in my garden and relying on T'other Half for household chores as doing simple things with a cane/walker is difficult/impossible. But I will get there albeit at a snail's pace.
