Ancient Westcountry art of Degirting

    We all know that if trees are left to themselves they turn into girt big things that drop leaves and branches all over the place :rolleyes:

    This is how to stop them turning girt :)

    First prune the root tips, this will cause new roots to grow from the base of the tree, forming a much denser fibrous root ball.

    Pot it up and then form a stiff bit of wire into the shape you want the tree to form.[​IMG]

    Gently lash the trunk to it with some thinner wire and leave it on till next year.

    Finish off with some moss or stones :)

    When the new leaves come in the spring, remove them and it'll grow a new set of smaller leaves.

                "West Country" is the old name of Japan used by the brave Welsh sailors who were looking for the spice trail but happened to miss a continent or two and landed in Japan. Columbus also had a nice try with his West India. :heehee:
