    Armandii (Eddy)
It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I have to tell you all that our beloved Armandii (Eddy) passed away earlier today.

Eddy was a huge part of Gardeners Corner for many years both as a member, as Admin and as a personal friend to many of us. Whilst he was a very private man, he was also a very giving man and he would give freely of his time to give advice as well as practical help. Many of us had the pleasure of meeting him at Shineyland over the years and he would more often than not be seen with camera in hand to provide us all with superb images thereafter.

I think it is fair to say that Eddy loved a good debate, but never a grudge was held - he had that fine art of disagreeing with you on one thing and then would immediately offer you the shirt off his own back if he thought it would help.

In addition to his love of gardening and photography, he was a very keen astronomer - I think it fair to say that the stars have gained another angel this evening.

We will all have our own memories and thoughts, so please do feel free to share them here; Eddy's family members are looking in, and are in direct contact with me via PM also, so if there is any message that you do not wish to post here publicly but wish to be passed on to his family please feel free to send it to me and I will pass it on.

Oh my goodness! I treasured the plants that Eddy sent me, before, but they'll be a lasting reminder now of a true gentleman and dear friend. RIP Eddy

How sad. That great garden in the ether has gained another gardener.

I didn't realise that he was quite so ill, a terrible shock, we met Eddy twice at Shiney's and enjoyed our chats, he will be sorely missed here, He has now gone to be with his dearly missed wife.

To be honest with you, neither did we - whatever the illness, he bore it bravely and kept it to himself, but ultimately I think that sums him up rather well. There can be no question that he adored his wife, and they will at last be reunited.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear this, he was such a kind, sensitive and perceptive gentleman! He always encouraged me with my gardening aspirations when I mentioned that I was struggling with them and was (still is, as far as I'm concerned) one of those rare souls one sometimes meets who have a deep, mystical understanding of Mother Nature and her ways. Few in this world have so much compassion and humour.

I was too upset after reading his last post to even comment earlier, so I can't imagine what this devastating news is like for those who were lucky enough to know him better than I did. I never had the honour of meeting him, but I feel incredibly privileged to have corresponded with him here. :)

He will always be a huge influence on me horticulturally and I know I will often think of him when working in the garden, such a unique, unforgettable and brilliant man.

              Nick

This is indeed sad news. Thank you for announcing his passing. I hope he has rejoined the wife he so dearly cherished in life and missed so deeply after her death. RIP Eddy.

Oh no I am so unbelievably shocked at this heartbreaking news. I never had the pleasure to meet Eddy in person but through his posts his warm and friendly personality shone through.
His last post the other day made me cry,he said his goodbyes and then not wanting any fuss he closed his thread.
It saddens me to think that he was so very ill and yet still posting his words of advice and wisdom to all who sought it.
His last advice to me was given recently when I asked him about some cuttings that I was trying to nurture.....when they finally get planted out they will be grown in this memory.

Rest in the garden above with your beloved wife...together now forever .xx

All of us here on Gardeners Corner will feel the loss of our dear friend Eddy.

I send my condolences to all his family at this time, such a sad loss for you all.

I had personal contact with Eddy down the years of being a member here but sadly we never met. This announcement has come as a shock to me so soon after his retirement from the forum. He was always a giving, sharing and caring man and nothing seemed to phase him. He always dealt with difficult issues here in a fair and responsible way. Indeed, he was never less than a gentleman!

I think we all looked forward to his garden ambles and there was often leg pulling about all the new plants he purchased and then had to find places in his garden for them. An amazing and devoted plantsman and each and every one seemed to thrive.

I and I think we all will miss him. Not only to share gardening and off topic discussion with him but also the laughter and wise cracks along the way. :)

Eddy - We'll miss you dearly but you are now reunited with your wife Shirl, the lady you were devoted too and for whom your garden was lovingly cared for. Enjoy your ambles around the garden together.

                    Yours aye

Very sad news. I am relatively new to GC but still in that short time have benefitted from Armandii’s generous advice and am the better for it. I too hope he is now with his cherished wife. Deepest regards to his family.

Like many, I am so shocked to hear this news.

I never met Eddy face to face, but I feel as if I met him through the many posts here, and the beautiful photos of his wonderful garden, so full of love and a living tribute to his beloved wife.

Only this afternoon I was weeding around the iris corms that he sent me last year. They struggled through the drought, but have sprung into life again this spring. I was wondering how I would tell him the good news....

My deepest condolences and sympathy to his family.

Shiney and I are both shocked and saddened by this news of Eddy.

We met Eddy many times at our Open Garden event in May each year (sadly cancelled last year and this) and he always popped in before he went home on Sunday, for a cuppa and cake. He always came with his car loaded up with masses of plants to swap with other members and for us to add to our plant stall.

A quietly spoken, very private man, who missed his beloved wife Shirley. He told us that he put flowers on her grave every day...... how very sad. He posted only two days ago on Monday that his health was deteriorating and he would have to leave GC. Little did we know that the end was so near. May his beautiful soul rest in peace. Safe journey dear friend and hope you will soon be reunited with your beloved. Our deepest condolences go to all his family and friends; they have lost a very special person who will leave a huge hole in everyone's hearts and lives.

                            Rest in peace.

The Rose Beyond the Wall Kristi Holl

A rose once grew where all could see
                            Sheltered beside a garden wall
And, as the days passed swiftly by
It spread its branches, strapping and tall.

One day a beam of light shone through
A crevice that had opened wide
The rose bent gently towards its warmth
Then passed beyond to the other side.

Now you who deeply feel its loss
Be comforted, - the rose blooms there –
                            Its beauty ever greater now
Nurtured by God’s own loving care.
