areca palm scale

    Hi everyone , i have a Areca palm that had a scale infection about a month ago . I treated it and it went away . Now it has returned again . What am i doing wrong ?

    I would replant in fresh growing medium and keep up the treatment. Maybe you could try washing some off before replanting it. They can infest the soil too.

    I washed them off last time ,but not replanted ,Will try that ,thanks.

      I sprayed with bug gun an then washed them off .

      Ok, so it was one that said it killed scale I assume.
      Probably will need more than one treatment, and continue to remove them when you see them.

      Other than that you could try a different chemical, pests can become resistant to certain chemicals, so if you can find one containing some thing different, and alternately spray with each at the specified intervals.

      I have just re potted in new soil . washed off again ,and resprayed . Will see what happens . Thanks for your advice

        Neem oil works well, but same as most things for scale it'll need multiple applications

          Yes it is a pot plant, so worth a try if it still returns , thanks for this tip.
