    Hi,

I noticed an asparagus shoot in the garden last year which was left to bolt; this was purely by accident as I wasn’t sure it was asparagus...

This year i’ve found an asparagus spear is the same place. I assume this is the edible asparagus and not some kind of copycat deadly weed?!

How best can I cultivate this spear? Should I cut this and harvest? Not much of a meal, but will more spears come? Should I dig up the area around the spear and put in a bigger container, feed and hope for more growth and productivity? Any guidance would be appreciated

    Cheers

    Rhydian

Yes it is asparagus @Rhydian but if you are only getting one spear each year not sure if you could get more. You could try moving it but it is the wrong time of year now. They are specific in their needs. My bed is on its second year so still not tasted any as they need two years to settle in. Have a read here.
