@martin-f , have you looked at the Hozelock micro or universal watering kits ? With the screwfix controller it should be less than £50 for your greenhouse . The Hozelock watering kits give you everything in one box.

Martin let me know how you get on with the battery powered controller . I always imagined it would use quite a bit of power to open and close mains pressure ? But it gets rave reviews on ScrewFix :blue thumb:

@martin-f I put together my own using low flow irrigation components.Originally I had a feeder going into the top of each pot but have now switched them to service containers in a capillary style setup. I have several zones. Three for the greenhouses and three more for the raised and back gardens plus for the hanging pots.
Here's my latest setup in the greenhouse
              Capillary GH 2018 (4).JPG

here's a close up - I used purple felt because I ran out of green and that is what I had left. Capillary GH 2018 (5).JPG
It takes less than two minutes to fill up the containers and each of the containers were produce packaging that I saved from buying mushrooms - they hold nearly a quart of water! If I didn't have grown sons to come by and water/run the system, I would reduce to three zones and add a timer to the system. My plants really like the self feeding system. I also have a fertilizer injector at the beginning of the line.

Forgot to mention that I switched from 10/20 plant trays to the smaller containers because I was worried about creating breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

Hi Harry i will do :dbgrtmb:, it shouldn't use much power its only opening/closing a valve of some sort, electronics have come along way over the last few years even solar lights do a good job,

Hi Lori that looks very good well done :), my system will just be a simple sprinkler system that waters the all greenhouse, it might be late this year while i get round to it i only have a tray of cosmos seeds in the greenhouse at the moment :wallbanging: this year all major jobs will be done next year i will be able to devote more time to growing more things ,

Lets hope the OP got sorted out with something @Mellor3456 ?

@martin-f I had spayers screwed into the main pipes when I first put the system into the greenhouse. It efficiently watered everything. But, I added a radio and other electronics and a heater so the "whole greenhouse" watering had to be changed to direction specific heads.

If you're just wanting the whole thing to get watered, it should only take minutes to set up the pipes :)

I only have a small garden so everythings to hand i do like my radio in the garden well Alexa but can hear it from anywhere, i do have some lights in but there waterproof, if i ever wanted some heating i could blow hot hair in from the what one day will be a summer house shed atm lol, so spraying all the greenhouse wont be a issue,

Yes it shouldn't take long Lori but i will be doing it in copper with soldered joints :)

Nice one. I need a natural gas heater in mine because of our early spring and autumn can be guaranteed to provide free frost and plant killing temps.

Gas heater is good :dbgrtmb: produces co2 and promotes growth.

That sort of thing is what I started with back 30 years. Then I found allot of loose stock when a store was going out of business. I learned to use what I could get hold of cheap and always pick up supplies on sale or closeout even if I don't need it at the moment.

The batteries last for a couple of years on the mains pressure water timers I have. I tried to use one on a low pressure rain water butt a few years ago and took it apart to see how it worked. They use mains pressure to assist the open/close mechanism and hence need very little battery power. But it means they don't work on low pressure systems, I needed to buy a specific timer for that purpose. Thought I'd mention it as it seemed interesting to me at the time :blue thumb:
