    I wonder who was responsible for first using this phrase.
    It must be the most used phrase on TV and radio at the moment.
    It's strange how these phrases come and go over the years.

      One phrase that really annoys me is "He turned around and said ... " then "She turned around and said ..." and so on, it's just meaningless.

      I have images of whirling dervishes trying to hold a conversation.

        Also you don't answer the phone you "pick up" . We were phoning our southern office earlier this week when my colleague said he is not picking up . I never knew he was ill I replied :biggrin:
        Not answering the phone was a perfectly adequate phrase.
