Lovely job Beckie very smart. What variety of Rose are you going to choose? Maybe room for a few Clematis or perhaps Honeysuckle. It will look gorgeous come the summer.

Thanks for your kind words @Anthony Rogers :)

@silu Thank you for your kind words too.

I've planted four roses already, do you think I could grow a clematis on there too?
I can't remember all the Rose names off the top of my head :doh:but I have two pink ones , one Penny lane & one iceberg :dbgrtmb:. It was so hard to choose which roses to buy, there are so many that are beautiful :)

        Hi Beckie,

If it were me, with those pink and white Roses I would plant a Clematis Jackmanii ( purple ) either side :)

I certainly grow a couple of climbing Roses with a Clematis for company. Agree with Anthony re colour. I'd go for something like Daniel Deronda which is a pale mauve or Antony's suggestion of Jackmanii. which is much darker and a very strong grower. Good choice with Iceberg, I've yet to hear anybody say that despite huge efforts nobody has been able to grow a better white Rose. My late Father grew half a dozen Iceberg which he had for about 40 years and for all I know may still be going strong. I grew up with them and occasionally their thorns too after crashing bike/roller skates et al into them!

I agree with Silu about Iceberg. It's probably my favourite Rose ever. We've got a climbing Iceberg and it flowers right into January most years.

@silu & @Anthony Rogers, I've been to the garden centre for a quick look at the clematis...but nothing took my fancy, they had mainly pink & white & somehow that's no going to work. I like your ideas, I think a mauve or purple would be perfect :dbgrtmb:, thanks a lot :blue thumb:

Have you got a "The Range " near you ? They do a fantastic selection of Clematis at £1-99 or 3 for £5.

We are about 30-40 mins from the range & that's if the traffic is good :rolleyespink:, we have a Wilko's close by, do they have clematis? :)

Lidl's did have loads the other day up here anyway. They weren't much more than rooted cuttings but they were dirt cheap. If I'd wanted more Clematis, already have about 30! I'd have bought 2 or 3 of the same variety and got a decent sized effort. Still good value doing that. Don't have a Wilkos anywhere remotely close:frown: so can't answer the question.

Well worth the wait, Beckie, the rose arch looks fabulous! I like how the stepping stones lead the eye off to the left (which will look all lovely, mysterious and inviting once the arch is covered in plants).

Do you have a Morrisons near? They have Jackmanii ;)

Hi @"M" thanks for your kind comments.
Our nearest Morrisons is about 30 mins away, I thought I'd have a look in Aldi this week, if not it will have to be a trip to Morrisons or the range :dbgrtmb:.
I can't concentrate at work today my head is full of gardening ideas ;)

Hi @martin-f, after lots of consideration & looking on websites & visiting various garden centres I decided to buy two Passion flowers to grow on the inside of the arch....my thoughts are that the Passion flower will climb up the arch along side the roses & give me a lovely display :dbgrtmb:. I shall post some more photos on here soon:dbgrtmb:.
