    Morning all,

I am planning on having a variety of pots around my patio area and wanted some advice on the best plants/trees and shrubs for containers.

I have already got 2 banana plants on the way and I am thinking of getting a Japanese Acer and a bamboo to go with this.

Any other ideas? I possible something that flowers and is good for wildlife but not essential.

    thanks

Hi @Lee Savage since you've got bananas, can I assume you are going for the tropical look? So have a look at posts by @pete and @strongylodon recently about palms... Also, you could try other 'large scale' plants like Tetrapanax papyera 'Rex' (normally known as T. Rex!). If you can shelter the plants over winter, maybe things like grevillea (which bees love) or abutilons.

Thank you for this really helpful. I haven’t gone specifically for a tropical look but it is leaning that way naturally. I’ve got a bamboo and a Japanese Acer along with a couple of fruit trees so a decent variety. I will look at those posts and check your suggestions out. Really helpful
