When we moved in to the house we're in now 2 years ago we inherited a lovely dense Laurel hedge alongside the front driveway, it's now about 6ft high; I let it grow taller for privacy as there is a public footpath on the otherside. I have maintained that height...

But the question is what is the best time of year to trim a Laurel hedge; if there is one?, last year I'm sure I did it around mid-June time when the new growth began to harden off, but this year the new growth is so prolific I really need to cut it back soon; especially on the footpath side as it will be encroaching. I know it's as tough as old boots and will probably be fine to trim now, but just wondered if there was anyone with a Laurel hedge that has any tips?

    Thanks in advance...
