Lovely walk ... but there are those dark skies again!

 

A lovely walk today despite those suspect clouds.

 

@Victoria and @Sheal ,..very suspect clouds indeed,..then a cloudburst,..thankfully i got home before it burst.

If the river was higher, after a lot of rain for example, that boat wouldn't be able to get under it
It's a very modern looking bridge, is it a motorway or something ?

 

Hi Michael,..indeed the river rises beyond the level to allow that boat through the bridge,..yes its the road from here ( Athlone to Galway ),..also the last bridge one goes under before reaching Lough Ree which is only about half a mile in the direction the boat is heading.

 

You're right in the middle of Ireland then, the Lough Ree looks big, must be a lovely place for walking

 

Beautiful and interesting place is Lough Ree,..lots of uninhabited islands with castle ruins and old churches,..the lake is 15 miles long and 12 wide,..i made the video below while boating with a fishing mate,..back 11 years ago

Thanks folks,..there is so much water around us here that most people fish or just wander around the islands,..some are treasure seekers and from time to time do find something very worthwhile,..in the wall of the ruined castle in the video they found a gold chalise and gold cross,..the island where i stand behind my boat was the biggest haul,..the biggest Viking Hoard in Europe,..way back,..oh the girl in the video was a visitor from Canada.
