I often grow new plants from cuttings as i find new plants crop well but i do prune sometimes just after cropping but not all of the shoots thereby ensuring some will be there to flower/ fruit next year. Blackcurrant and apple pie with custard in the winter loooovley.

Hi Most people prune their blackcurrents about the time the last leaves drop off. Cut out one third of the branches at ground level. Choose the darkest and oldest branches to remove. Blackcurrents fruit on new wood so you encourage as much new growth as possible.
