There was a special technique for doing it and I had some practice at it. :blue thumb: When I was at school I won a bet for doing it. It bought ice creams for a few of my friends. :)

Nope. There was always one part of the rigid spine that was weaker than the rest and if you gave a sharp snap in that spot it used to then seem to move the pages so that they tore fairly easily. :noidea:

On the subject of virgins fibre. Years ago I used dial up, then vigin laid their cables through most of the streets/roads around here. My Wi-FI gives me good service sa such. Family have logged their mobiles into the modem. I can take my laptop into the garden, workshop & greenhouse same results as if sitting in study at desktop.

Tearing phone directories. First saw this done on TV by Joan Rhodes. Yes a weak spot on the spine of the book gave way to easier tearing. My dad set me a task when I was a kid. Bending a six inch nail between the first three fingers. B.....hurts until you get it right.

I'm shocked :hate-shocked: They say it would cost £450m. It makes a change for a political party to overestimate how much they would have to spend on the proposition. :heehee:

They say it costs £22.70 per treatment so that would be approx 20 million treatments. I'm trying to envision that many treatments being performed and can't really see it happening

It will save me a fair amount each year as they include a scale and polish, which I have every three months. I would imagine that they wouldn't stump up for four visits a year - plus the check up. :)

On the subject of wifi speeds - my crystal ball reckons that fibre broadband will be a thing of the past when 5g is widely available. Everyone will be on mobile interweb. Of course, Jezza wants to spend billions on installing fibre broadband in every home - wot a numpty.....

I get 30 large download through my 4g phone now.

Clanless. I agree with you. IMHO I consider there are far more important thigs for a government to spend money on.
Turning to the rapid advancemet of todays technology, mobile phones are in a snse taking over the world. I only use my mobile for texting and the odd phone call. However my daughter and her children use the mobile for almost everything.
Sat Nav. Diary. Lots of info storage that I would be afraid to store, in case the mobile got lost or stolen. Then as advertised. You can now switch your central heating on/off whilst away from home. You can answer the door bell when away etc. Also of course you can take photos and who needs a watch anymore.
