Being a novice im trying new things and up to now having good sucess!
However i think i may have made my first mistake.

I thought id be clever and plant my 2 big pots with crocus bulbs and i then planted pansies on top, the thought being the winter pansies will be out now and when they go off in the new year the crocus bulbs would come through and continue the bloom until spring.

My neighbour has took great delight in informing me the bulbs will not push through and i must now decide to either rip the pansies out or the bulbs will just rot.

    is this true?

Hi, No, I have planted up some pots with tulips, daffs and crocus and put pansies on the top; I have done this many times in the past, they always come up. Personally I've always planted crocus between pansies, but I shouldn't worry too much I think they'll be fine so long as they're not too deep :thumb:

      Sounds like rubbish to me.

Yes I would not plant pansies on top of crocus but the crocus wont rot.

Reason being that the pansies will be at their best early next spring and may just cover the flowering crocus.

Winter pansies actully flower right up to next summer if allowed.
