Quite right Pal. Medics are a cautious lot but homeopathy does set alarm bells ringing with most doctors. Still I am sure Prince Charles knows what he is doing. Hope he's going to be better at kinging than medicine.

Butter on burns WAS an old wives' remedy Peter. Your post rang a bell with me as I was sure I had a recollection of either my mother or grandmother applying it to me. So I've just done a bit of 'Googling' which has confirmed the use of butter on burns in the past.
Certainly not to be recommended as it traps heat and can lead to infection.

With regard to ants and formic acid - if you poke a stick into a ants' nest mound in a pine forest and then sniff the stick you'll get a real whiff of formic acid.

Sarraceniac - I wouldn't lay any bets about Charlie being any better at the 'kinging' than he has been at anything else so far. ;)

Thanks Dave - I thought that was what I was told. However I felt it was rubbish at the time. Cold water seemed to be much more logical immediately after you had burnt yourself.

[IMG] I thought you might like to know that the lady who was scalded in this thread is doing very well. The skin grafts were not as extensive as they first thought she would have to have. She will go to stay with her daughter for a while when she is well enough to leave hospital. Then when she comes home the nice weather will be here.. Well that is what we are telling her!! ;) :D

Oh good Marley. Burns are very painful and can be traumatic in the elderly. I am sure we all send wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

[IMG] I hope she will go on alright. She had a nasty couple of days which they put down to the shock. She now sounds more like her positive, if a little stubborn self..! ;) :D
The Dr.s are pleased with her as well...
Her daughter will look after her until she is ready to come home....
She will still be in the village, just over on the other side.. Poor old Rose thinks no one will go & see her.. I am sure they will go, it isn't far, not even for the elderly.. ;) But if I know Rose she will be itching to get back to her own little house.. :D

Thanks for your good wishes John, I shall pass them on.. [IMG]
