I enjoy growing cactuses from seeds as well. This is my report on what's happened during 2 years.

Alisa, we must be twins separated at birth! I also have an extensive collection of Cacti. I now have a "cactarium" with lights and natural light combined. I grow from seed and buy far too many plants.
These, along with the African Violets, (and various other collections) are why I must NOT start collecting Tillandsia!:nonofinger::heehee:

      Thank you!
I specially wanted astrophytums seeds. Right now cactuses on the photo are
      Astrophytum crassipinoides x5
      Astrophytum myriostigma x4
      Echinocactus parryi x4
Mammillaria candida x3 - these have already become so "fat", that touch each other.
I must apologize, possibly some names can be not complete or iccorrect. It's what I've copied from labels of person I've got cactuses from.

Looks so! :dbgrtmb: :) However I didn't keep many cactuses. Most of young plants were given to the other people, because I had only north-east direction windows. From last summer I live in apartment with both north and south direction windows, and cactuses love sunny windowsill.

Tillandsias are the right plants to collect, when there are no more available surfaces at home, these can be placed everywhere higher.:snork:

I've planted them this year in J Arthur Bower’s cactus compost. I see plants like it. Before I used 100% peat based compost plus sand. And the covering - stones from the seashore.
