    Hi,

Does anyone know what this is? It spreads quite aggressively during the summer months, I seem to be forever pulling them up!!

Hi there dampsquib and welcome to GC.

It is a Nigella, common name, Love-in-a-Mist and it self-seeds very easily. It is an annual, so if you are finding it a nuisance just dead head it before it seeds and it won't come back next year.

Thanks for the super fast reply!

I'm assuming it's not normally seen as a weed. I'll probably just thin it out a bit to stop it spreading too far - I think I've let it have too much of a free run in the past.

    Cheers

It's a wildflower here and I just love them ... they grow outside my gates on the lane. They used to grow wild in my garden till we gravelled and made a sand garden for specimen plants.. I would love it if they found their way back ... :)

Hi Victora, maybe dampsquib could send you some seeds :D

They just seem to fizzle out in my garden, maybe it's the heavy clay.

    :) Hi Blackthorn

We are heavy red clay here ...

Mentioning seeds, I'll send you some of the Madeira cherry tomato seeds. :)
