      Replying to myself here, but I also think technology adds to this problem, I started out reading books, sometimes I'd read a book over and over again, the names were there in my head.

      Nowdays I rarely touch my old books, just wander around the internet where you can get the info up in a few seconds.
      I just find the fact that there is so much info available I often dont digest it anymore.

            Well the "Picture This " android app. worked a treat . It's like Shazam for plants ( ask your kids).
            Tried it on a few of my plants , and it instantly identified them to a choice of three. Thanks for the pointer @Paul Raybould :blue thumb:
            We still need Pete and Silversurfer et al for pinpoint ID and tips . You can't replace that depth of knowledge with a micro-chip :snorky:

              I agree whole heartedly that you can’t beat plant knowledge and I would love to instantly recognise plants, however I’m a complete garden novice so I intend to use the app to ID plants I like to see if they will work in my garden and also to slowly build up my knowledge of plants etc
