Mowgley , 7 to 14 days for germination with a bit of bottom heat . If you're lucky you may see one at 5 days . Very nice plant to watch grow they emerge in trumpet shaped cones , then cones in cones.......................:dbgrtmb:

I seem to be getting white roots emerging above the compost then the plant?? Is it because im not planting the seed deep enough ??

The seed should be 1/2" 12mm deep Joolz . If they are growing OK just sprinkle a little compost around and gently tuck them in a bit .

I've always used a large metal file, holding the seed between finger and thumb. Great for doing the nails as well!!:heehee:

Well using the trusted pliers & metal file I finally got round to doing my Canna seed tonight; a little later than I wanted due to DIY projects in our house :snork:, after about 20 minutes I had 12 varieties done, 3 seed of each and all in soak now for a couple of days..:)

After growing several varieties last year I did notice that some seemed to take longer to germinate than others, from memory I remember C.glauca germinating very quickly; within days, where as C.paniculata took almost 3 weeks??!! Still plenty of time yet Mowgley, don't give up hope yet :dbgrtmb:
